This week's blog focuses on Bob Wing, founder and instructor of the Aikido program at Naropa University, teacher of the body-centered Gestalt Therapy, and guest faculty at the upcoming Authentic Leadership Program.  Bob explores how experiential practices can empower individuals to deflect aggression by tapping into their own inner strength.

How do we react to aggression? For most of us, our "fight or flight" reflexes kick in immediately. When participating in any physical encounter, people do not simply react physically – their emotions and minds are also very much present in their interactions.

Bob Wing, MA

Bob Wing, MA, founded the Aikido program at Naropa University in 1982. In addition, he was a Faculty member in Naropa's Contemplative Psychology Department for many years. 
Bob is currently director of WiseActions, an organization dedicated to cultivating compassionate and transformative action in the world. He is founder of The Mountain Warrior Institute and Warrior of the Heart seminars, each designed to enhance individuals and groups to live and work in wise, skillful, and courageous leadership. Bob also hosts seminars in the Art of Hosting and the Art of Social Innovation.
Bob is a respected sculptor and painter and has trained extensively in Trager Psycho-Physical Integration. He currently lives in Boulder, Colorado and leads international workshops and training programs in experiential learning.

Barbara Bash
Barbara Bash is a calligrapher, author, illustrator and teacher of Big Brush and illustrated journaling workshops. She co-directed the Book Arts program with Susan Edwards at Naropa University and collaborated with musicians, storytellers, and dancers developing calligraphic performance art that joined Eastern brush sensibility with Western alphabetic forms. This creative exploration has been her springboard for mixing word and image in deeper ways. Barbara's most recent book is an expanded edition of True Nature: An Illustrated Journal of Four Seasons in Solitude.
